床にちょこんと座って、まばたきもせずにこちらを見上げるムンク。おもちゃではなく、おもちゃを持つ手のほうをじっと読んでいますわ。
Munch sits on the floor and stares straight up, barely blinking. Not at the toy, but at the hand holding it. Munch knows the toy only moves when the human does.

ピンクのポンポンが揺れた瞬間、後ろ足だけですっと立ち上がりました。目はまんまる、前足は高く振り上げて、肉球まで丸見えです。本人はいたって真剣ですわ。
The pink pompom wiggled once, and Munch shot straight up on two back legs. Eyes wide, one paw raised high, toe beans on full display. Completely serious about it.

おやつを差し出すと、待ちきれずに前足が伸びてきました。爪をしっかり引っかけて、真剣な顔でこちらへ引き寄せます。もらう前から、もう自分のものと決めているようです。
The moment the treat came out, Munch's paw shot forward. Claws hooked in, eyes dead serious, pulling it closer. In Munch's mind, it was never ours to give.

床の毛布のすき間は、ムンクのお気に入りの隠れ場所。そっとめくると、まん丸の目でじっとこちらを見返してきます。まだ出てくるつもりはないようですわ。
Lift the blanket on the floor and there it is: Munch's favorite hideout. Those round eyes make it feel like we are the ones who got caught. No plans to come out yet.

机の上に頭を横たえて、ムンクがこちらをじっと見上げております。体はすっかりくつろいでいるのに、緑の目だけはまんまるのまま。寝ているふりをして、人間の動きをひとつ残らず見ているのですわ。
Munch flopped across the desk, head down, fully relaxed. Except for those round green eyes, locked on me the whole time. Lying down is not the same as off duty.

白いふわふわのベッドで丸くなったムンクが、前足をそろえてこちらを見ております。手前に大きく写った前足は、指先までヒョウ柄でたくましいこと。眠そうなお顔でも、目だけはしっかり開いておりますわ。
Munch curled up in the fluffy white bed, front paws folded right by the lens. Big paws, leopard spots to the toes. Sleepy face, but the eyes stay on duty.

廊下のまん中で、ムンクがごろんとお腹を出しました。前足は片方だけ胸の前で丸め、逆さまの顔でこちらをじっと見ております。撫でてよいのか、試されているのか、いつも迷いますわ。
Munch flopped belly-up in the hallway, one front paw curled like a tiny fist, upside-down eyes fixed on us. A belly rub invitation, or a trap? We never know.

爪切りの日のムンクは、洗濯ネットを頭にかぶって膝の上でされるがまま。見えなければ怖くない、という理屈のようですわ。それでもネット越しの目は、最後まで爪切りを見張っておりますの。
Nail trim day. Munch wears a laundry net over the head and goes oddly calm on the lap. Can't see it, can't fear it, apparently. Those eyes still watch every clip.

届いた段ボールは、開ける前にまずムンクが上に乗って検品いたします。真上からじっとこちらを見下ろし、許可が出るまで箱は開けられません。中身より、箱の上の座り心地が大事なようですわ。
Every box that arrives is inspected by Munch before anyone opens it. Munch climbs on top, stares straight down, and decides. The contents do not matter. The box does.

机の上に先に陣取ったムンクが、床のポン助を静かに見下ろしております。ポン助は見上げたまま動きません。この家の上下は体の大きさではなく、先に座った者が決めているようですわ。
Munch took the high ground first and now looks down while Ponsuke stays on the floor, head tilted up, waiting. In this house rank has nothing to do with size. It goes to whoever sat down first.

仕事机にのぼって、キーボードの手前に顔だけ置きます。普段は距離を取るくせに、こちらが集中し始めた途端これですわ。マウスに手が届かないので、本日も降参いたします。
Munch parks that face right in front of the keyboard. Distance all day, then zero distance the second work starts. The mouse is unreachable now.
